1974 was such a great year. The first barcode was introduced, America first screened the Six Million Dollar Man and the Rockford Files, Liz Taylor divorced her fifth husband (Richard Burton) and Anthony and Carol Dunkley opened A&C Dunkley Tiles in Boscombe!
Since then, A&C Dunkley has become a household name supplying a huge range of quality tiles and tiling materials from their Kemp Road, Tile Showroom Bournemouth where they moved to in 1986.
The family-run business is now managed by their son, Scott Dunkley, ably assisted by a small team, some of whom have been on board since 1974. “After 35 years of successful trading we must be getting something right and we’re raring to get stuck in to the next 35!” said Scott.“Our survival and growth has been down to honesty, quality and a real no frills approach without compromising on quality and style. We’ve also been able to evolve and mature in line with our clients’ needs, and as the tiling ‘fashion’ has changed.”
To kick off the next 35 years (at least!), the company is re-launching as ‘Dunkley Tiles’. Scott added “We’re going through an exciting period of redevelopment and although it’s only a small change of name, it reflects that need to change with market trends and yet maintain our loyal customer base. Our motto has always been ‘No tricks, no gimmicks, just honest professional help’ and that’s exactly what our customers get.”
